With handmade personal details and rustic style, this Virginia wedding has a special, intimate feel that highlights the incredible joy of this couple. From the green watercolor washed stationery pieces to the incredible paper flower wall, the custom touches that Chelsea and Henry created not only added great design elements, but also made their day highly personalized. The two were very intentional with the team of vendors they chose to work with, and Ashley Glasco Photography did a beautiful job in capturing the emotion of their day.

We are absolutely in love with the ceremony space at the Historic Pole Green Church, and love the unique feel of this outdoor wedding space that has the illusion of a small church- it gives this space a different look that lends itself to a simple and understated design that is full of character. We think you’ll love this fun feature in their wedding day style.

Chelsea has given us some great insight into her and Henry’s wedding day, and we’re thrilled to share with you today. Her final words of advice are serious musts for future brides!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I used The Knot app as a general timeline to keep track of when I should be completing certain tasks — it definitely helped spread the “to do” list out. Since we did so many of the details ourselves (all the paper products, table centerpieces, flower wall, etc.) it was really helpful for me to share a Google Doc with our wedding planner where I wrote a short description of how everything was put together and where, including sample images. It made me feel confident that our overall aesthetic would be achieved on the big day without anyone having to stress about what went where. My mom was definitely the biggest help keeping me on track and helping me realize all the details; she is definitely the major reason the flower wall was completed on time!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We tried to work with vendors who were excited and confident about their approach to the wedding and who had an aesthetic that matched our own. I think this helped make the wedding cohesive and laid-back and we really trusted all the vendors to add their own personal little touches.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

We were going for a modern, simplistic Rivendell.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Truthfully, my favorite part was finally getting to say “I Do” to my husband, but it was amazing to get to celebrate that moment with our family and friends all together in one place!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Practical advice: spread your “to do” list out so you’re not overwhelmed at the last minute, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you’re uncertain how to go about something. Relationship advice: remember that your fiancé is your forever partner and is there to support and help you — Henry was integral to helping me destress and was a massive help finding vendors! Day-of advice: cherish every minute, the day isn’t long enough and there are more sweet memories being made than you can count!
